The Communities In Schools of San Antonio annual Stuff The Bus School Supply Drive provides free school supplies to thousands of underserved students and families throughout the school year.  As our community emerges from the pandemic, we have three convenient ways to get involved. See more information below to join us in supporting underserved students within our community! 

About Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CIS-SA)

Working directly in about 160 schools across 12 school districts, Communities In Schools builds relationships that empower students to stay in school and succeed in life.  Our school-based staff partner with teachers to identify challenges students face in class or at home and coordinate with community partners to bring outside resources inside schools. From immediate needs like food or clothing to more complex ones like counseling or emotional support, we do whatever it takes to help students succeed.

Three Ways to Support Stuff The Bus

1. Create a Page & Raise Funds Online

Want to get your company or organization involved? Register and receive a unique fundraising page link to share with your colleagues, customers, or others in your network. Funds collected will be used to purchase necessary supplies for each campus. As a Team Captain or Team Member, you will engage & inspire others to give. We have pre-set templates you can use for emails and social media which can be found on the Fundraising Toolkit page We make it easy for our team captains! Last day to raise funds: August 15th 11:59 p.m.

2. Collect Schools Supplies

Invite your network to donate supplies by placing a collection box in your office! A backpack, notepad, or package of markers goes a long way for our kids. We'll provide you with a list of most requested school supply items. Collection drives occur June through first week of August. Final collections should be dropped off on August 3rd or August 4th at the HEB Super Regional Warehouse.

Note: This is for organized corporate/civic drives. We only accept donations from individual community members on Saturday, August 6th at participating HEB locations.

3. Make a One Time Donation

Interested in simply making a donation? All you have to do is click "Donate" at the top of the menu bar and enter your donation. 

If you are associated with an organization or company participating in Stuff The Bus, make sure to click "or Select this button to give credit to a Team or Fundraiser" on the Donate page and select the team/fundraiser name. This will allow your fundraiser to credit and capture your donation!

Stuff The Bus Supporter Recognition

We appreciate all Stuff The Supporters, regardless of the amount raised! Everyone will receive a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing your efforts.​

Top Supporter Recognition​

  • If you raise $5,000 or more, CIS-SA will organize 1 campus visit in the Fall (# of participants based on campus preference and capacity). ​

    • A great opportunity to enjoy light refreshments, hear about the impact of your efforts, learn more about the CIS programming, take a photo​, and meet a CIS student.

    • Additionally, we will place a branded sign with your name/logo in our CIS office to recognize your support year-round

Recent Activity

For over 20 years, the Communities In Schools of San Antonio Stuff The Bus (STB) School Supply Drive has helped thousands of students and families in need.  During the 2022-2023 school year, the STB supplies will be distributed to about 160 San Antonio area schools (elementary-high school) across 12 school districts.  This allows all students at each campus to have access to free school supplies throughout the school year. Each time you participate in the Stuff The Bus School Supply Drive, you entrust Communities In Schools of San Antonio to direct your gifts to where they are needed most. This includes, but it not limited to, the purchase of school supplies, technology and uniforms needed by our students, such as, but not limited to, the representative items on this website.
