Fundraising Toolkit

Thank you for your commitment and leadership as a Stuff The Bus team captain! This page offers additional resources to help you lead a successful fundraising campaign to collect supplies and to raise funds that will be used to purchase supplies for students in need. We are here to support you! Need additional information? Feel free to contact Jessica Hannah at give@cissa.org

Tips for Team Captains and Fundraisers

1. Set Up Your Team or Individual Page

Choose a team name that reflects your identity—your company, school, or community group. This helps others immediately recognize your purpose and join your efforts.

2. Aim High with Your Fundraising Goal

Pick a goal that inspires action! Fundraising thermometers are available to help you and your supporters track progress in real time. (Tip: Visuals motivate!)

3. Make It Personal

People give to people, not pages. Use your story to show why this cause matters to you—whether it’s a memory of needing help yourself or a deep belief in educational equity. Authenticity inspires generosity.

4. Share Your Mission Widely and Creatively

  • Email your network with a clear ask and personal message.

  • Post regularly on your social platforms—photos, stories, countdowns, and updates are great content.

  • Tag @CIS_SanAntonio and use hashtags like #StuffTheBusSA so your posts reach more people.

  • Pick one or two “Power Days” (like “Mission Monday” or “Giving Tuesday”) to share specific messages or videos.

5. Follow Up (More Than Once!)

Don’t be shy—people are busy and appreciate reminders. Send updates, thank-yous, and light-touch follow-ups with your donation link. Not every message has to include an ask, but always include your link somewhere (like in your email signature or IG bio).

6. Celebrate and Thank Your Donors

Gratitude builds community.
- Post a short thank-you video
- Send a handwritten note
- Shout out your supporters on social media

Your appreciation will leave a lasting impact—just like your support of students.

Reminder: The most powerful thing you bring to this campaign is YOU. When you share why you care, others will care too.

Let’s #StuffTheBusSA and set students up for success in 2025 and beyond
