About Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, Alpha Tau Omega Chapter
The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Alpha Tau Omega Chapter, is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college-educated women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind.
Since 1930, Alpha Tau Omega Chapter has proudly served as the premier sisterhood of college-educated women in San Antonio, working together to uplift and empower the citizens of our city and the greater Bexar County area. As we approach 95 years of steadfast service, we continue to build upon our rich legacy through impactful programs that meet the evolving needs of our community.
Our chapter provides numerous innovative and impactful programs, including a reading enrichment initiative at the Eastside Boys and Girls Club and the Mahogany Brain Challenge, an annual youth competition focused on African American history. We champion community education around health awareness, economic advancement, poverty alleviation, social justice, and educational achievement—awarding scholarships each year to deserving graduating seniors. In celebration of the vital role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), we proudly support and have adopted St. Philip’s College.
Signature fundraising events like Fashionetta™ and 18 Shades of Green, our annual golf tournament, help sustain these dynamic programs of service. As we near our 95th anniversary, Alpha Tau Omega Chapter remains committed to a legacy of sisterhood and service that transforms lives and strengthens our community.
